AssetExchange Announces Results of 2009 Survey of Credit Union Credit Card Portfolio Sellers

PORTLAND , Ore. , June 9, 2009 – AssetExchange, a leading credit union credit card portfolio advisory and brokerage firm,  has completed its 2009 survey of credit union executives that sold their credit card portfolios.  This is the third such survey conducted in recent years and reflects few changes in credit unions’ perceptions of their portfolio sales and agent issuing partnerships.

“We were interested to see if the state of the economy would alter executives’ views regarding their card portfolio sale,” commented Frank Selker, AssetExchange President.  “We found little change.  Results were very much in line with previous survey responses.”

Among the highlights of the latest results:

· A contradiction persists regarding selling:  sellers generally do not regret selling but are also not particularly happy with their buyer.  Dissatisfaction was expressed regarding products (43%), pricing (67%), and service (71%), and only 46% would recommend their buyer.

· About half continue to consider changing their arrangement when their contracts expire.  19% are considering re-starting their own portfolios while 48% are considering evaluating new partners.

· Growth among buyer-managed portfolios slightly slowed.  20% shrunk and 24% remained the same with no growth.

· A majority continue to feel their partner products are superior to their own, but that majority has fallen from 76% in previous surveys to 65%.  This may reflect the advances that their peer credit unions have made with improving their products, for example, by adding more products and rewards.
